FISHING REPORT
Too rough offshore? Fish the bays instead
      Offshore fishing has been slim this week due to the weather. Bay and jetty anglers have been a little busier. Bay guides have brought in all the usual suspects: red and black drum, sheepshead, trout and flounder. Charlie Zahn of Port Aransas fished off the end of the jetties last weekend and limited out on redfish using soft plastics.

Three of a kind
      Maria and Mike Morones of San Antonio caught these red drum off the north jetty while visiting Port Aransas recently. Maria's measured 32 inches, Mikes, below, were 25 and 26 inches.

Jetty fish
      Jim Williams, left, of Tribbey, Okla., and Steve Cooper of Pierre, S.D., show their stringers of sheepshead and black drum they caught on the south jetty on Friday, Dec. 5. They said their catch was destined to become a fish fry.

      Capts. Donnie Lueck and Russell Sanguinet took this group out on a 56-hour tuna trip aboard the Scat Cat out of Fisherman's Wharf on Friday, Dec. 5. They came back with this boatload of blackfin and yellowfin tuna, along with several dorado and amberjack.

Floater fish
      Tom Apilian and friends went out aboard the Gulf Eagle to the 'floaters' with Capts. Nate Forbes and Tony Buzbee out of Deep Sea Headquarters. They brought back these yellowfin tuna, blackfin tuna and dorado on Sunday, Dec. 7.
