Student art show opens Sunday

Some of these students will show their work in the Art Center for the Island's student show on Sunday, Dec. 7. The Art Center for the Islands will hold its First Friday reception from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, at the art center, 323 N. Alister.

The December exhibit will feature the annual Middle School and High School Student Art Show and Awards. The public is invited to peruse the exhibit, socialize and enjoy live music and refreshments.

Artists exhibiting include students from Port Aransas, Aransas Pass and Flour Bluff. Their works will be exhibited through Friday, Dec. 26.

Participating teachers are Tom McHenry of Port Aransas High School, Laurie Garcia of Aransas Pass High School, Lisa Brown and Ron Richardson of Flour Bluff Junior High School and Connie Vallie, Valerie Lichtenberger and Charlotte Walker of Flour Bluff High School.

Marylin Cook of Port Aransas, Donna Garven of Corpus Christi and Ed Boyd of Rockport will judge the artists' work.

The Family Center IGA and Winship Construction are the December sponsors for the art center.
