Oysters are lecture topic Wednesday Spend your lunch hour learning about our coastal environment. The next lecture in the Brown Bag Lecture Series will be Wednesday, Dec. 10. Beginning at noon in the Pollock Center, 129 S. Alister St., W. Jay Tarkington of Rockport will speak about Oysters: The Building Blocks of the Coast. Tarkington is a coastal wetland biologist and educator at Texas A&M Corpus Christi. He is the program director of the Center for Coastal Studies Aquatic Education Program and director of the Adopt-a-Wetland program. This free series is sponsored jointly by the Joint Effort Leisure Ministry (JELM) Center and the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department. A new topic is discussed each Wednesday through March, with the exception of Dec. 24 and 31. Community members are invited to bring a sack lunch to the lecture. |
