Work and play
Rodney Powell, top photo at right, finds footing and his balance on newly installed planks on Charlie's Pasture Pier while a strong north wind blows past him and creates swells on the water on Friday, Nov. 7. Powell and supervisor Arnold Thatford are employed with Texas Docks & Decks of Corpus Christi, the company that was contracted by the city to make repairs to the pier after it was damaged earlier this year by the wake of two different ships in the Corpus Christi Ship Channel. That evening, Nathan McDonnell of Port Aransas was throwing a castnet (photo at left) in search of bait as the sun set. Repairs were finished on Monday, Nov. 10, and anglers were quick to get in on the action at one of the favored fishing spots in Port Aransas for residents and visitors.
