PAHS team faces illness, slow course at Calallen meet

Illness and a slow course hampered the Port Aransas High School crosscountry team at a meet at Calallen High School on Saturday, Oct. 11.
"The weather was nice, but the course was slow," said Steve Reaves, coach of the PAHS team. "We basically ran in circles around their campus, so with all of the turning, it really slowed down times."
The Port Aransas team also had several kids sick the day of the meet and during the week leading up to the event. "That affected us also," Reaves said.
Still, things are looking good for the PAHS team.
"The kids are working real hard to get ready for the district meet," Reaves said. "We have really increased the tempo in practice, and I expect to see that pay big dividends in the weeks to come."
