City hall to close for Columbus Day

This weekend will be a three-day holiday for some and business as usual for many.

Columbus Day, Monday, Oct. 13, will be marked at Port Aransas city hall, but only by locking the front door and not answering the telephones. Employees will be inside packing up documents from the fiscal year just ended and getting set up for the new fiscal year.

First responders will all be on duty as usual.

American Bank and ValueBank Texas will both be open for business as usual. Prosperity Bank will take the day off Monday.

At the South Jetty it will be business as usual. Deadlines remain in place: 10 a.m. Monday for letters to the editor, noon Tuesday for news and advertising.
