      Most of you are aware of this, but there will be a lot more on your ballot at the election this Nov. 4 than the race for president. Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John Mc- Cain are vying for voter attention in swing states; Texas isn't considered one by either campaign.

      It surprises the heck out of me that Katie Couric could get the best of anyone. I'm not a fan. I quit watching/listening to the Today Show when she was co-host. I kept waiting for someone to reply to one of her questions, which she answered herself, with, "Couldn't have said it better myself, Katie.

      Views expressed in Letters to the Editor are those of the writers and not those of the South Jetty. Bridge an opportunity I have watched with interest the construction of the golf cart bridge over the highway south of town. It has to be one of the most expensive cart bridges in the world.
