After a short break, the Port Aransas High School newspaper, previously named The Splash, is making its way back. The paper, which has been out of print for four years, will resume production in October. The paper went out of print when former Port Aransas High School English teacher Rita Reed, who previously ran the paper, retired in 2004. More ... The Port Aransas 4-H Club will be dissolved unless at least two more students join and a club manager is found. A minimum of five members is mandatory for the club to continue, but this year only three students signed up. Members can participate in many ways, not just in the traditional animal raising. Only 160 tickets are available for the upcoming Mardi Gras in October, an event that helps the Port Aransas Education Foundation (PAEF) raise money to supply tangible benefits for island schools and their students. The event, scheduled for 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, at the Port Aransas Civic Center, is PAEF's biggest fundraiser of the year. More ...
