From left, Julie Johnson, 10, and Gabi Hanmore, 8, portray mermaids in a stage production they put on with other children at H.G. Olsen Elementary School on Friday, July 25. The play was part of a summer program for children sponsored by the Port Aransas schools and the city's Parks and Recreation Department. Children wrote the play (called "Indiana and Juliette -- The Third Adventure"), acted the parts, created the set and made their own costumes. The youngsters performed the play for younger kids taking part in the summer program.
