Big Bull shark
      Dustin Akin of Cedar Park fished aboard the La Pesca on Sunday, June 22 with Capts. Ryan McLaughlin and Justin Cortez out of Dolphin Dock. He caught this 179- pound bull shark.

      Kolebie Stevens, 6, of Bertram, left, Kyser Wiley, 9, of Cedar Park, middle, and Breck Holmes, 8, of Bertram, stayed up all night to catch these snapper. They fished with Capt. Tim Oestreich II on Saturday, June 21, on a 12-hour night trip out of Dolphin Dock.

FISHING REPORT
The kingfish know summertime is here
      Saturday, June 21, was the summer solstice and someone told the kingfish. They are here in force. Several boats have reported limits of them this week. They seemed to all have shown up at once. There have been some big ling and grouper landed, as well as limits of snapper. By all accounts, the fishing has been great all week.

Fishing is on for PAM this weekend
      Fish a tournament and benefit youth. The Port Aransas Masters Billfish Tournament will open today, Thursday, June 26, with a registration party from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Upper Deck at Trout Street Bar and Grill. Hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar will be available.

      This group from Metro Brick and Stone Company in Dallas went fishing on Saturday, June 21. Capt. Matt Stennett out of Fisherman's Wharf guided them to catch these trout and redfish.

Amateur team wins Powder Puff
      A team of four women - three from Poteet, and one from Port Aransas - took the overall prize in the 25th annual Powder Puff fishing tournament June 20-21. Sharon, Laurie and Jamie Burchfield, all of Poteet, and Renee Hornbuckle, of Port Aransas, won the overall prize after entering the tournament's amateur division.

Deep Sea Roundup is July 3-6
      Anglers of all ages will be in Port Aransas Thursday through Sunday, July 3-6, for the storied Deep Sea Roundup. The 73rd installment of the oldest and largest saltwater fishing tournament on the Texas Gulf coast is sponsored by the Port Aransas Boatmen, Inc., and proceeds fund various youth-related activities and scholarships.
