Three teams competed at the first Saturday round robin tennis tournament on June 7.

Winners in mixed doubles were Galen Faulconer and Ellen Nicholes, both from Port Aransas. Others participating on the hot, breezy morning were John Zimmerman from Corpus Christi, Winnie O' Regan from Colleyville and Cecilia Fox and Bee Johnson, both of Port Aransas.

The tennis tournaments are held on the first Saturday of each month on the Port Aransas Independent School District courts. Entry fee is a can of new tennis balls. Matches are mixed, men's and/or women's doubles, depending on the number of players. Partners are drawn randomly. Format also depends on the number of players.

The tournaments are sponsored by the loosely organized Port Aransas Tennis Association, which holds no meetings, charges no dues and has no official members.
