      As I pen my first article as president of the PAISD Board of Trustees, I reflect on how quickly this school year is passing. Our exceptional group of educators and administrators may take issue with that statement, especially in light of the pressure that the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test puts on them.

Key Club retreat
      Port Aransas High School Key Club members (clockwise) Michael Long, Ashley Hendricks, Megan Park and Macy Luker attended a leadership training retreat sponsored by Kiwanis International at the Baptist Zephyr Camp on Lake Mathis April 18-20. The Key Club is now planning a Skate-a-palooza on Friday, May 16, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Community Park skating rink.

Service learning class is collecting donations for children's hospital
      Brundrett Middle School's service learning class is inviting community members to contribute to a stuffed animal drive that the class is conducting. Contributions will go to patients at Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi.
