Living up to STPA expectations
      We spent last Thursday through Saturday at the annual convention of the South Texas Press Association. The membership of STPA consists of editors and publishers of newspapers from Copperas Cove to Robstown and Hondo to Port Aransas. It is the largest regional press association in the country, and I've been attending meetings since I was knee-high to a grasshopper.

Who was that man in the big hat?
      I was entertaining a group of about 100 guests at the late Lady Byrd Johnson's ranch in Texas. It was a barbecue - with lots of it. The purpose was to thank the top group of people in charge of beautifying the areas of their counties.

      It's time for the City of Port Aransas to move up to the leading edge in city government. We need a City Department of Wildlife, Wilderness and Nature. Wildlife has to have a voice in city government.
