Education foundation to award grants on April 11

BY DAN PARKER SOUTH JETTY REPORTER

The public is invited to assemblies at three Port Aransas schools where Port Aransas Education Foundation (PAEF) officials will award more than $40,000 in grants to school employees on Friday, April 11.

Assemblies have been scheduled for 10 a.m. at H.G. Olsen Elementary School, 2:10 p.m. at Port Aransas High School and 2:50 p.m. at Brundrett Middle School.

"This is an opportunity for the public to come and see first-hand the amazing educational opportunities that result from their donations to the Port Aransas Education Foundation," said Janice Roberts, PAEF president. "We are very proud of the overwhelming number of thoughtfully submitted grant requests we received this year."

The foundation funded slightly more than $21,000 in grants to Port Aransas schools last year. PAEF is expected to award about twice that amount this year due to especially successful fundraising efforts.

Formed in 2006, PAEF is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising money to award grants for programs and items not funded in school budgets.
