FISHING REPORT
By all accounts the week was windy, but catches were still good. Some larger species offshore and large numbers of smaller species inshore were reported.
Limits of red and black drum and sheepshead are being caught in the bays, according to Sharon Keehlisen out of Woody's Sports Center. Pier anglers are reeling in gafftop, whiting and sand trout. Those fishing on the Island Queen brought in their best catch ever of sheepshead. Wahoo and tuna are being caught offshore along with kingfish, vermilion snapper, and shark.
John McNatt of Fisherman's Wharf reports two mako sharks, some ling, vermillion snapper and limits of kingfish being caught offshore. Bay guides are bringing in nice reds and trout. Anglers on the north jetty are catching trout and drum.
According to Bridget Jackson at
Dolphin Dock, big blackfin tuna and amberjack have come in from offshore. Vermilion snapper, kingfish, barracuda and shark also were caught. The bays have yielded black drum, whiting, flounder and gafftop.
Deep Sea Headquarters 8-hour trips brought in mako, Spanish mackerel, and Atlantic sharpnose sharks. Sheepshead, black drum and reds were brought in from the bays, according to Dan Hurd.
Limits of kingfish, vermillion snapper and shark were the big catches on the Adventurer out of Offshore Adventures. Bay guides led customers to limits of black drum and sheepshead using shrimp and sea lice, reported Peggy Sexton.
