Round robin tourney is for adults Saturday

Head for the school courts on Station Street on Saturday morning, March 1, for a round robin mixed doubles tennis tournament.

Entry fee is a can of new tennis balls - players don't even need a partner.

Visitors are especially welcome to join residents for the monthly "just for fun" tournament.

Players should meet at the courts on Station Street between Beach Street and Avenue C at 7:45 a.m. to be included in the bracket. Play begins at 8 a.m. Players should be prepared to play until about noon and should bring water, although there is a water fountain nearby.

Partners are matched randomly, and the format depends upon the number of players participating.

Players who meet regularly at the courts for informal tennis matches put the tournament together on the first Saturday of every month. The group is not formally organized, holds no meetings and collects no dues. Matches are open to adults, whether residents or visitors. Players should come equipped with tennis balls and rackets and the desire to have fun playing tennis.

These players meet for informal matches at 7:30 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and at 7 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday. Those matches are open to all tennis players who have basic knowledge of the game.
