PAHS poets pick up prizes
Students from PAHS, Ingleside High School and Flour Bluff High School submitted entries for the contest held by the Art Center for the Islands.
Each school will receive a participation certificate.
Former high school English teacher Ginger Massey judged the quality of the work. Massey was given the entries with no identification of name or school.
The TONI Award, with a prize of $50, was awarded for "Sisters" by Danielle Halvorson, 10th grade, PAHS.
First place, with a prize of $50, was awarded for "What I Am" by David Thrasher, 11th grade, PAHS.
Second place, with a prize of $30, was awarded for "My Mother's Eyes" by Hannah Coulter, 12th grade, PAHS.
Third place, with a prize of $20, was awarded for "Lock it, Locket" by Cassandra Peacock, 11th grade, PAHS.
Honorable mentions with a prize of $10, were awarded for "Pathological Liars" by Trey Wilson, 12th grade, PAHS; "Politicians' by Alyssa Crawford, 12th grade, PAHS; "Canvas of Life" by Josephine Green, ninth grade, Flour Bluff High School and 'To Love Someone" by Krystal Wilson, Ingleside High School.
