Henry (Bill) William Carhart Jr. died Sunday, Feb. 03, 2008, of heart failure. He had been a resident of Port Aransas for the last 13 years.
The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2005.
He remained an avid New York Giants fan no matter the distance he lived from his hometown.
Carhart started his career with Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing, and retired from the Texaco Corporation after working for 39 years, in the refining and marketing units in El Paso, Tulsa, Los Angeles and Houston.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Germany.
Carhart served the Boy Scouts of America for more than 30 years and was presented the Scoutmaster of the Year and Silver Beaver Awards. He donated countless hours on various projects at Trinity-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Peter and David Carhart; two daughters, Cindy Burns and Jennifer Long; five grandchildren, Melanie, Tanya, Madison, Juliana and Michael.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 8, at Trinityby the-Sea Episcopal Church, with a reception following the services in the parish hall.
