Jillian Bartlett of Port Aransas has been admitted to the Honors College at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Bartlett, a 2007 Port Aransas High School graduate, is a freshman at UTSA, having completed her first semester. She will begin this semester at the Honors College.

According to the UTSA Web site, the mission of the Honors College is to provide enhanced educational opportunities for motivated, enthusiastic, diverse and inquisitive students.

Its underlying philosophy is that well-educated individuals should understand broad, interdisciplinary perspectives while demonstrating excellence in their chosen field.

UTSA's Honors College is open to students from all academic disciplines. Offering small classes, special interdisciplinary seminars, community service opportunities, supervised research experiences and study abroad opportunities, the Honors College is a community of bright scholars, caring advisors, and enthusiastic professors.

In order to graduate with Tier 1 (non-thesis) honors, students must be admitted to the Honors College before completing 30 hours.

Bartlett has sung in the UTSA Women's Choir under the direction of Dr. Gary Mabry in several choral events, including Chris Giles benefit concert, International Conference on the Occupational Voice, Texas Collegiate Women's Chorus Festival 2007 on the TWU Campus, UTSA Women's Choir concert and Combined UTSA choir and orchestra concert.
