FISHING REPORT
Despite blustery weather for the last part of the week, fishermen have been reeling in plenty of fish.
Sandra Fudge of Woody's Sports Center reported more inshore catches for last week. Anglers on the Island Queen caught gafftop, black drum and sheepshead. Black drum were caught in the Corpus Christi Ship Channel and off piers. A few redfish were caught off the jetties. Bay guides took anglers to redfish, black drum and sheepshead.
Limits of kingfish, a 51-pound wahoo, Atlantic sharpnose shark, a big blue marlin and shark were caught by fishermen out of Fisherman 's Wharf, according to John McNatt. Limits of red snapper were caught on state water trips in the eight to 10-pound range. North jetty anglers using the Jetty Boat caught redfish and sheepshead.
Beeliners, triggerfish, amberjack, kingfish and grouper were caught on trips out of Dolphin Dock, Sandy Martin said. Snapper and big redfish were caught on state water trips.
Two floater trips out of Deep Sea Headquarters made anglers happy with lots of fish caught, according to Dan Hurd. One had to come in early as all fishermen had caught their limits of amberjack weighing 40-50 pounds each and limits of 70-pound-plus yellowfin tuna and lots of blackfin tuna. Kingfish and Atlantic sharpnose shark limits were caught on the 8-hour trips.
Not enough offshore trips are going out of Offshore Adventures, Peggy Sexton reported, due to not enough anglers booking trips. Bay guides led customers to red and black drum using live shrimp and mud minnows.
