But, for the Lady Marlins JV, playing well for three out of four quarters didn't add up to a win over their district rivals from Falls City Jan. 11. The Lady Marlins lost, 35-45, in their first district game of the season.

"The girls actually out-played this team for three of four quarters," said Karen Hall, coach of the Lady Marlins JV. "…We were very consistent in every quarter except the second quarter, (in) which we scored no points. … If we had scored our usual points in the second, we would have won the game."

Despite the loss, Hall said she was pleased that the Lady Marlin squad played so well against such a big, physical team.

With the loss, the Lady Marlin JV's overall record fell to 8-7.

Scoring for the Lady Marlins JV were Savanna Nixon, with 8 points; Jordan Butterfield, 7; Chelsea Perez, 8; Tarryn Murray, 5; Kelsey Ortiz, 4; and Katie Samudio, 3.
