Cartwright
Nancy W. Cartwright of San Marcos died Wednesday, Dec. 26, 2007, in a San Antonio hospital. She was 85, a former resident of Port Aransas, and grandmother of Kelsey Cartwright of Port Aransas.
NANCY CARTWRIGHT Cartwright was born Dec. 28, 1921, in Greenville, S.C. She graduated from Furman University in Greenville with a bachelor's degree in education.
Cartwright moved to Port Aransas in June 1953, when she married DeWitt R. Cartwright. Port Aransas was home for her family for the next 36 years. She taught first and third grades in Aransas Pass for 30 years.
In 1987, Cartwright and her husband retired to San Marcos.
Survivors include her husband; one daughter, Mary Ellen (Jackie) Smithey of Aransas Pass; two sons, Jeff Cartwright of Austin and Greg (Debi) Cartwright of San Antonio; two other grandchildren, Jacqueline Smithey of Aransas Pass and Austin Cartwright of San Antonio.
A celebration of life memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Aransas Pass Charlie Marshall Funeral Home.
