Newest Video: Fall Back Festival benefits PACT - Click Here to view Trade or recycle Proving the benefits of sharing instead of discarding is the focus of a recycling event set for Saturday, Dec. 1. Everyone is invited to participate. The public is encouraged to trade books, recycle old eyeglasses and cell phones, and share usable yet unwanted cuttings, rootings, trees, or any other plant life. Keep Port Aransas Beautiful (KPAB) has partnered with the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department for the event to be held 9 to 11 a.m. at the Fred Rhodes Memorial Pavilion at Roberts Point Park. 'Bring plants and books to trade or just come get some to take home," said event coordinator Julie Findley. "We often have a tremendous number of plants given, so if you don't have anything to share, come anyway and get free plants to beautify your part of Port Aransas, An opportunity also will be available to join KPAB and get a cool t-shirt while you're there. Also, some turtles will be there that need a home," Findley said. Texas Recycles Day was Thursday, Nov. 15, but due to scheduling conflicts, KPAB elected to mark the day on Dec. 1. For more information contact the Parks and Recreation Department at 749-4158. |
