Newest Video: Fall Back Festival benefits PACT - Click Here to view Yeehaw, 'padners'!
This P.A. Movie Time western is one of the movies shown free of charge once a month from November through February, courtesy of the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation department. Popcorn and lemonade are served at each movie, and participants may bring any non-alcoholic beverage of their choosing. Movies, unless otherwise noted, will be held in the Port Aransas City Council chambers inside the Civic Center, next to City Hall at 710 W. Ave. A. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie will begin at 6:55 p.m. "Bring family or friends and mosey down for this cinema showing," assistant director of the Parks Department Rachael King said. The synopsis given by Oldies.com says, the movie is about "Vengeful Harry Price and his lawless gang that burns the wagons of Professor Mc- Gill's minstrel show to get even with cowboy singer Tex Malinson. When the county commissioner deputizes Tex, the Price boys conspire to get rid of the rookie lawman, dead or alive. A violent skirmish erupts into a fullfledged war after a bullet intended for Tex hits the wrong target." Tex Ritter co-wrote the musical score for this sagebrush saga and energetically performs four memorable songs. Harmonica virtuoso Salty Holmes, who earlier gained radio fame with his Prairie Ramblers, performs a trademark 'talking harmonicanumber." The movie stars Ritter, Syd Saylor, Glenn Strange, Snub Pollard and Budd Buster. John English directed the movie, and the screenplay is by Sherman L. Lowe. |
