Halloween parade slated to hit streets Saturday afternoon

The traditional Halloween Parade will go on prior to the Port Aransas Parent-Teacher Organization's holiday festivities.

It will be Saturday, Oct. 27. Costumed kids should line up in front of H.G. Olsen Elementary School at 100 Station St. at 5 p.m. The parade will begin at 5:30 p.m.

The route will be from the school north to Beach Street, then west to Alister Street, south on Alister to Avenue C, then east on Avenue C to Station Street and north on Station back to the school. The parade will disperse in time for kids to enjoy the Port Aransas Parent Teacher Association's Monster Mash Ball (see related story).

The future of the parade depends in part on response from spectators.

Organizer Ginny Moss encourages the public to line the streets to enjoy the costumed kids on parade.

Moss said a big show of support from the public will give the PTO incentive to resume sponsorship of the parade in conjunction with its annual carnival (now called the Monster Mash Ball).
