Trick or Treat!
Port Aransas children ready their costumes for Halloween
Staff Photos by Dan Parker

The devil made her do it Normally, Elissa Kelley is a cute little third-grade student at H.G. Olsen Elementary School. But, put her in a devil costume and shine a flashlight on her face in a darkened room, and she becomes the very picture of Halloween horror.
Cleopatra Second grader Gabi Hanmore loves glamour and the idea of being waited on hand and foot. So, when she and her mother, Laurie, recently saw a show about Cleopatra on TV, Gabi announced that's what she wanted to be for Halloween. "On TV, Cleopatra was being carried on a throne by men," Laurie said. "I think Gabi might actually try to get some boys to do that for her."
Grin reaper Miles May, 9, sports an ominous hood and an intimidating scythe, but, at Halloween time, he smiles a lot more than the Grim Reaper normally would.
She dreams of Genie Emma Shannon wishes she could be a real genie. "If I was a genie, I could grant other people's wishes," she said. At the very least, Emma's wish for a cool Halloween costume has been granted.
Go, team! Six-year-old Monique Lorette wants to be a Port Aransas High School cheerleader someday. "I like doing jumps," she said.
Spidey It's not surprising that 4- year-old Conner Kreutziger has chosen a Spider-Man costume for trick or treating this year. A huge fan of the web-shooting superhero, Kreutziger owns Spider-Man underwear, T-shirts, action figures and plenty of other spider stuff.
Caped candy crusader Michael May, 5, pulled this batman costume out of a plastic tub full of costumes that his parents keep in the family playroom. The Mays have accumulated quite a few costumes over the last several years worth of Halloweens involving their four children. The children dip into the costume tub whenever the urge strikes them. "The other day, they were all Power Rangers, playing soccer in the driveway," mother Tonya May said.
