PASTOR'S PEN
All of those things can be part of who you are, but who are you at the core of your existence? That may be a question that you have never sat and pondered. Let me first point out that the way you answer that question depends on whether you have ever had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. If you have not begun a relationship with Jesus, then the answer to the question is: I am a person who is searching for real life. Jesus said that he is..."the way, the truth, and the life...without me no one can go to the Father"/ John 14:6 CEV. You will never be who God intends you to be until you have a relationship with Jesus. If you have entered into a personal relationship with Jesus, then the answer to that question is enormous. The South Jetty does not have enough space for me to write the complete answer to that question, but I will attempt a partial answer. As believers in Jesus Christ, we are, 1.) Sons and daughters - children of the King, heirs to the throne of God; 2.) Saints - if you have a relationship with Jesus you are a saint (you don't have to wait for sainthood; 3.) Soldiers - we are in a battle, but it is not an earthly, political fight. Jesus said we are fighting for his kingdom, which is a spiritual kingdom; 4.) Ambassadors - we represent Jesus in everything we do; 5.) Friends - Jesus said that we are no longer slaves, but his friends, and 6.) Managers - we are managing God's kingdom here, until he returns. The Bible mentions many other things, but if you are interested in a personal relationship with Jesus, or interested in finding out more of who we are in Christ, I would like to invite you to be a guest at First Baptist Church of Port Aransas. Our Anchor Groups will be going through the book: "New Identity - Discovering Who You Are in Christ". The messages in the Sunday morning worship service also will coincide with each chapter. No matter who you are, where you live or what church you go to, you can be the person that God wants you to be. |
