Ready for more
A boat turns in at the newly-finished jetty that now protects the mouth of Piper Channel in this aerial photo looking north. Workers have finished dredging the mouth of the channel and installing the jetty, but Airport and Channel Corp. treasurer John Price said the channel company would also like to have the remainder of the channel dredged before the end of the year. That project also will involve replacing some lights and pilings, Price said. Completion of the channel dredging will bring Piper Channel up to snuff for the first time in years, he said. The channel is the only way in and out of the Island Moorings Marina.
