Letters to the Editor Great crew! I am writing this letter in regard to the Oleander Street project. I live on Oleander. I just wanted to let the public know the crews that have been working so hard on this street have been very courteous, professional and friendly. The crew from Island Construction has been the nicest group of people during this whole renovation. I can't say enough about their professionalism and their hard work! I know we are going to have a beautiful street when it is finished, so why complain? Let them do their job. They are doing it very well! Connie Beane, Port Aransas Garbage totes an eyesore? I wonder if our weekend residents have ever been on the island when the wind is blowing very hard? And it's garbage day. You can look out to the street and see many garbage cans floating along in the breeze, down the street they go, never to be found again. Or how about when the coyotes and other animals are hungry and spew trash all over your yard and collect in the ditches to clog the water flow? Not a pretty sight. Most cities require the "totes" be kept beside the house or in the back yard. The garbage company is responsible for putting the lids back down. I've had the "totes" in other cites and used them consistently. The few dollars more it costs far outweighs the clutter and blowing trash and containers. Bring on the totes!
