Good performance Port Aransas High School's cross country team members shed some of that summer-time weight gain at the season's opening track meet hosted by Corpus Christi Moody High School on Saturday, Aug. 25. The advantage of competing on the bayfront at Cole Park was lost without the usual seabreeze to cool the runners. "It was a very hot and muggy cross country meet. Even though we were on the waterfront at Cole Park, there wasn't any breeze, which made the conditions tough on the runners," said Coach Steve Reaves. Nine girls and one boy competed, and "Everybody performed well," he added.
" We are really just using these early meets as a practice. For the both groups it was their first real hard run, Most of what we have been doing has been over distance at an easy pace just to build a base. All in all it I am pleased with how we performed, with this being our first meet," Reaves said. |
