School is in session
PASTOR'S PEN

Well, it is that time of year again: School has started. I don't know about you, but I'm quite ecstatic. We had a good summer, but I am ready for my routine back. So, with that being said, I thought it would be a good time to remind all of us that we need to be praying for all of our kids.

I believe we have great schools, but it takes our being aware and praying to keep it that way. I know, I know, we can't pray at school, but that won't keep our family from praying. Our kids need to be safe when they are at school, and they need to learn what will be useful to them later on in life. I think they should have fun and make lifelong friendships.

It is up to parents, grandparents and all concerned to be active in our kids' futures. Who knows? Some may go on to be great leaders in our community, in our state and even in the world. The Bible says to train up a child in the way they should go, and when they grow old they will not depart from it. So, it isn't just up to the teachers; it is up to each and every one of us.

Every time you speak to a child, you have the opportunity to speak positive words into that young person's life. Our teachers only have our kids part of the day. We need to remember that we can't leave everything up to the school. How involved are you willing to be in your kid's education? The more we are involved, the better off they will be. If they know you care, they will strive to do better.

Not only do we need to be praying for our kids, but also all of the administration. They have tough decisions that they need to make every day. Wouldn't it be great if they knew people were praying for them? Maybe send your kid's teacher a note of appreciation, tell the secretaries thanks for all they do, and the principal how much you appreciate the time he or she spends with your kids working to improve their lives. There are many people who work in our schools, too many to name them all, so make it a point to pray for all that are involved in our kids' future.

We make it a habit to pray for our kids every morning before they go to school. I pray that everyone will have a great school year.
