'Night Watch' auditions slated

Four women and five men are needed for the November production at the Port Aransas Community Theatre.

Auditions are scheduled for 7 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday, Sept. 5 and 6, and will be held at the theater, 2327 State Hwy. 361.

The actors will be auditioning for spots in the suspense drama, "Night Watch".

The play will run at 7:30 p.m., Thursday through Saturday, Nov. 1-3, 8-10 and Nov. 15-17, with a 2:30 p.m. matinee scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 18. Actors must be available for all performances.

Alan Gardiner-Atkinson will direct the play by Lucille Fletcher.

Call Gardiner-Atkinson at (361) 215- 0136 or e-mail pacttheater@yahoo. com for more information.

"Watch" is described by the theater as, "Unable to sleep, Elaine Wheeler paces the living room of her Manhattan townhouse, troubled by unsettling memories and vague fears. Her husband tries to comfort her, but when she steps away for a moment, Wheeler screams as she sees, or believes she sees, the body of a dead man in a window across the street.

The police are called, but find only an empty chair.

"Wheeler's terror grows as shortly thereafter she sees still another body, this time a woman's, but by now the police are skeptical and pay no heed to her frantic pleas. Her husband, claiming that Wheeler is on the verge of a breakdown, calls in a psychiatrist who agrees that Wheeler should commit herself to a sanitarium for treatment.

"The plot moves by leaps and bounds as Wheeler's friend Blanche, a peculiar neighbor and a nosy German maid each contribute complications as the mystery draws towards it's riveting and chilling climax."
