Docks report trout, redfish, tuna biting

Terrific trout
      Joe Ryberg of Carlsbad, Calif. holds up two of 10 trout caught Monday, Aug. 27, on the north jetty. He took the Jetty Boat from Fisherman's Wharf and used live croaker to snag the trout that weighed two to four pounds each.

      Ryan Schmidt and friends of Boerne went fishing recently with Capt. John Brennan on the Pelican out of Deep Sea Headquarters. They returned with limits of red snapper, kingfish, Atlantic sharpnose shark and ling.

      Frank Pabon of Cibolo was among those fishing on the Scat Cat out of Fisherman's Wharf Sunday, Aug. 26. The catch included snapper, kingfish, shark and tuna.

Women's tourney report results
      Reel Insanity nabbed the overall trophy in the 10th annual Texas Women Anglers Tournament held Saturday, Aug. 25, in waters off Port Aransas. Reel Insanity, owned by John Kiszkiel of Cedar Pass, also took the M.L. Walker Perpetual Trophy. Anglers were Ashley Alexander and Shannon Bain.

Shark hearing set
Boatmen ask for turnout against amendment next week
      The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 5, on limiting fishing for blacktip and bull sharks. The hearing is set for 6 p.m. at the auditorium of The University of Texas at Austin Marine Science Institute (MSI).
