     Nueces County and Port Aransas officials are encouraging residents and property owners to get ready for the possible landfall of Hurricane Dean. Current forecasts call for Dean to enter the Gulf of Mexico as a possible Category 2 hurricane as early as Tuesday.

Bells will be ringing students back to class
COME MONDAY
      School bells will ring in Port Aransas on Monday, Aug. 27. Teachers have been on the job since Aug. 20, and principals were in their offices as of Aug. 7. H.G. Olsen Elementary School students must report for class at 8 a.m. and will be considered tardy after the bell at 8:05 a.m.
