Meeting set to discuss filling PAISD business manager job
BY DAN PARKER SOUTH JETTY REPORTER

Port Aransas Independent School District Superintendent Billy Wiggins is ready to go to the school board to recommend a candidate for the district's new business manager.

Wiggins declined to name the candidate, saying he first wanted to present the person's name and background to the PAISD Board of Trustees. The school board is scheduled to hold a special meeting at 7:45 a.m. tomorrow, Aug. 3, to consider approving a candidate.

Olivia Mixon resigned from the district's business manager position several weeks ago. She has continued to come in on weekends to help out as district administrators and trustees work this summer to hammer out a budget for the upcoming year.

Wiggins said he interviewed eight applicants for the business manager position during the week of July 15-21.

The applicants tended not to have experience in schools, Wiggins said. However, he said, "we had some very qualified applicants in their work at businesses."

In addition to picking a top candidate, Wiggins also selected another two to round out a top-three finalists list.
