Three island swimmers compete at state contest

Three swimmers from the Port Aransas Swim Team competed against the best in the state last weekend. The state competition was held in Cedar Park at the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation State Games of Texas.

Matt Beyer placed fourth in 50- meter freestyle with a time of 1:23.88 and fifth in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of :35.15.

Cody Angel placed fifth in 100- meter individual medley with a time of 1:16.93, 13th in the 50-meter butterfly with a time of :34.57, and 15th in 50-meter breaststroke with a time of :39.26.

Jenna Ward placed 11th in 50-meter backstroke with a time of :41.45.

"I am proud of these swimmers who worked hard for these accomplishments and who are looking forward to swimming again next summer," said coach Nana Ward.
