On the boulevard
Construction continues on Access Road 1, which is being turned into a boulevard as part of the Newport Beach and Golf North development. The road was closed to traffic on Wednesday, Aug. 1, for repaving by Island Construction of Port Aransas. It was expected to re-open by Friday, Aug. 3, said David Parsons, planning and projects manager with the City of Port Aransas. The developer is paying for the work - including curbs and gutters, landscaping and lighting - but the road will remain a public road, Parsons said.
