Darts Association to resume competitions

Got Tuesday nights free; good with hand-eye coordination? You are invited to join other dart players this fall for fun and competition.

The Port Aransas Dart Association will begin its season soon, and president Carl Elles said it is time to start organizing for league play.

Play will start in September, and teams need to line up players and sponsors now, Elles said.

A board meeting will be held Tuesday, Aug. 14, at 7:30 p.m., at the Salty Dog Saloon, 203 N. Alister St. Elected officials will join team captains and sponsors to discuss upcoming league play. Anyone interested in joining the association is welcome to attend.

Teams consist of six or more players including at least two ladies per team. Play takes place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday nights and lasts three to four hours on average.

While some teams have played together for years, new teams are formed, and new players replace retiring players each year.

An annual membership fee and sponsor fees are collected for the season, and an annual banquet is held.
