Police arrest man after pistols fired Port Aransas police say no charges have been filed against two men thought to have fired shots near Beach and Alister streets on Sunday, July 29. Police records show the report of shots fired came at 10:08 p.m. on Sunday. Employees of the Castaways restaurant, 320 N. Alister St., told investigators they heard four shots. One of them told officers that another employee, Juan Manuel Garza, 18, of Ingleside, was "acting strangely." Investigators found Garza hiding in a storeroom that was locked from the inside. A 9-mm handgun thought to be Garza's was found nearby, detective Lt. Darryl Johnson said. Police also found another handgun - a .45 caliber - hidden in an icemaker. The suspected owner, a 15-year-old boy, had left the scene but later admitted the .45 was his, Johnson said. Johnson said the .45 caliber handgun was part of what was reported stolen from an Ingleside home during a burglary there. No charges were filed, Johnson said, because "nobody came forward, so we're not sure what caused the shots." He said there were no actual victims of a crime, as far as police could tell. Garza, however, was arrested on three outstanding warrants from Aransas County. The warrants were for public intoxication, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear in court. |
