Anglers enjoy fishing in steamy, dry weather
      With much less rain this week, anglers have been fishing and catching like crazy, reported dock employees.

      Jessica Cummingand Timmy Ostriech caught this kingfish on 12-hour trip out of Dolphin Dock. Also caught were dorado, shark, red snapper, amberjack and a large grouper.

      These anglers reeled in limits of kingfish and dorado on an 8-hour trip aboard the Gulf Eagle with Capt. Fred Hedemann out of Deep Sea Headquarters.

Lotta reds
      These fishermen, left, Bobby Jones, Don Witte, Scott Freis and Shane Hammond, all from Dallas, fished with Port Aransas Guide Charlie Hutchins on Friday, July 26.       Ryan and David Everhart went fishing with other anglers Friday, July 20, that came back with a mess of kingfish. They were fishing aboard the Wharf Cat out of Fisherman's Wharf.

Kingly catch
      Stephanie Hinojosa displays the 18-pound kingfish she caught in the Blue Wave fishing tournament. Hinojosa grew up in Port Aransas and now is an airman first class stationed at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana.

      Howard Houchen of Hugo, Okla., caught this 41-pound dorado Monday, July 23. He was fishing aboard the Kingfisher out of Deep Sea Headquarters, with Capt. Keith Schoolcraft and deckhand Clint Clark.

Magee earns PARR Conservation Award
      Jim Magee of Port Aransas was awarded the Conservation Award by the Port Aransas Rod and Reel Club (PARR) at its awards banquet on Saturday, July 28. Also at the banquet, winners in the adult divisions of the annual PARR tournament were awarded trophies.

Great adventure
      It was another great day on the water for 14 anglers aboard the Adventurer with Capt. Jeff Heimann of Offshore Adventures. On a 12-hour trip Wednesday, July 25, they caught limits of red snapper, vermillion snapper, kingfish, Atlantic sharpnose shark, mahi-mahi, jack crevalle and more.
