Poker event Saturday will raise funds for Fragile X Syndrome

A charity poker tournament in Port Aransas will benefit FRXA, a nonprofit organization that supports research for Fragile X Syndrome (FXS).

The event will be Sunday, July 15, at Bernie's Beachhouse, 730 Trout St., starting at 3 p.m.

Two cash-only tournaments, one with a $75 buy-in and another with a $25 buy-in, will be held.

Door prizes will be given away and free food will be given away.

FXS is the second leading cause of mental retardation and the only known cause of autism. One in 129 women and one in 800 men carry FXS, and most do not know it.
