Club meeting slated Tuesday to share computer knowledge

Interested in computers? Got a computer problem? The Port Aransas Computer Club invites you to its first meeting of the year, scheduled for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at the Computer Center, 730 N. Alister St.

The first hour of the meeting will be devoted to problem solving and a help session, said Computer Club president John Somers.

"Bring your computer questions and issues, and we will try to work them out with you," Somers said.

He said the club is also trying to establish a regular time and format for future meetings.

"The Internet, eBay, email and business applications are becoming old hat. Or are they?" he said.

"Is there still interest in learning about these or is the interest mainly now in wireless networking your home or in creating music and video files and maybe sending them wirelessly to your TV or stereo? Is there interest in even newer technologies?"

Somers said the club also wants to know what classes residents and visitors are interested in.

As always, the center also seeks volunteers to staff the center. No computer expertise is required to be a volunteer, Somers said.
