First Friday Reception is tomorrow

Attend the First Friday Reception tomorrow and view special deals on special art by member artists.

The "Summer Barefoot Sale" will be the focus of the reception at the Art Center for the Islands, 323 N. Alister St., but the items will be discounted through Friday, July 27.

Refreshments will be served from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 6.

The social event will include music by local musicians to soothe the soul.

"Coming barefoot is not required. We are just trying to set the 'summer ' mood," said art center director Mary Rose.

Included in the sale will be framed and unframed paintings in all sizes and mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, pen and ink, charcoal and pastel. Photography, pottery, weavings and beaded jewelry for bare feet also will be available.

"Pick up a deal for yourself or do some Christmas shopping in July and find wonderful, unique gifts for friends and family," said Rose.

Center sponsors for July are the South Jetty newspaper and Charlie and Linda Zahn.

All sale items may be purchased during gallery hours, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The Art Center for the Islands is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation celebrating more than 11 years of art and culture island style.
