Orn

Roland A. "Pete" Orn of Rockport died Wednesday, June 13, at the age of 87. He was the father of Linda (Wayne) Johnson of Port Aransas.

Orn was born in Round Rock on Aug. 9, 1919, the youngest child of Carl and Hilma Orn. He lived there for 83 years, where two generations before him had lived.

Orn was preceded in death by his five siblings, Clarence Orn, Elmer ''Kid'' Orn, Paul "Sonny" Orn, Rosie Shaw and Ethel Wallin.

In 1951, he married Annie Lucille Cowan.

Orn was a farmer and worked for the Board of Control for the State of Texas for 24 years.

He was a member of the Round Rock Church of Christ.

An avid domino player, he was honored when he was named a "Local Legend" in Round Rock.

Survivors include his wife, Lucille of Rockport; his daughter and son-inlaw; a granddaughter, Trisha (Doug) Campbell of Austin; two brothers-inlaw, L.B. (Shirley) Cowan and Alfred "Pro" Cowan, both of Austin; a sister in-law, Mary Hodnett of Austin; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 16, at the Cook-Walden/ Capital Parks Funeral Home Chapel in Pflugerville. Burial followed at Cook- Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Butch Bradley, Doug Campbell, Al Johnson, Ben Orn, David Trueper and Jimmy Wallin. Honorary pallbearers were Alfred Cowan, L.B. Cowan, Lambert Peterson and Isedor Wallin.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Orn's memory to the Education Foundation Endowment Fund, P.O. Box 195, Rockport, TX 78381.
