Help sought The more you need them, the fewer there are. In the winter, Winter Texans volunteer at the Port Aransas Computer Center and are invaluable in keeping the center open and even allowing it to expand its hours. During the busy summer months, however, volunteers at the Computer Center are in short supply - and now is when casual visitors are likely to drop in to use the e-mail, photo card reading or printing abilities at the center. Computer Center volunteer coordinator Lyndon Holcomb asks anyone who's interested in being a volunteer to call the center at 749-4011 and leave a message for him, or simply drop by and fill out a volunteer form. The center is at 430 N. Alister St. The center has upgraded equipment over the past year, and just this spring added new computer tables and chairs. The volunteer on duty has his own computer to use, complete with high-speed Internet access and Microsoft Office Professional 2003. Volunteers (or anyone, for that matter) may also bring their own laptops and use the center's wireless (WiFi) network if they prefer. |
