Benefit set for skaters' park

Plans are rolling along for a fundraising play day on Saturday, June 30, at the skateboarding area at Port Aransas Community Park.

The event is being put on by Port Aransas Skate Park - a group of folks working to raise money to improve skate facilities in town.

Skaters and BMX bikers are invited to skate at the upcoming play day. The pocket park recently was improved with the addition of four new quarterpipe ramps.

Soft drinks and hotdogs will be sold as part of the fundraiser. Organizers also are raffling skateboards and accessories. Sold at the Board House surf shop, raffle tickets are $2 per ticket or three for $5. Winning tickets will be drawn at the play day.

The hours for the event have changed. The new hours will be noon to 9 p.m.
