New video: Labor Day holiday draws crowds - click here to watch WALK THE BEACH Residents and visitors are invited to learn about what washes ashore - in addition to seaweed -- as winds and currents converge on the beaches of Mustang Island. A guided beach walk sponsored by the Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department will reveal the secrets of the sea tomorrow, Friday, June 22. The free walk will start at 9 a.m. by the red flag next to Horace Caldwell Pier. Leading the walk along the beach will be Capt. Steve Zarych. Rachael King, assistant director of the Parks and Recreation Department, which sponsors the walks, said, "There's more than meets the eye in that seaweed!" The walks are held on the fourth Friday of each month. Beach walkers should wear appropriate shoes and clothing and bring a container for any treasurers found. For further information, call the Parks and Recreation Department at 749-4158. |
