Surviving in style
Port Aransas High School seniors, their guests and juniors had a big time while keeping safe at the 2007 Project Graduation party. The substance-free event is held on graduation night in an effort to prevent accident, injury and death that often happen when seniors party after graduating. The party included food and drinks and games including ping-pong competitions, a bull-riding championship, obstacle course challenge, dance and guitar play-offs, a moonwalk, rock wall, tricycle races and more. It started at 10 p.m. and ended at 5 a.m., with a $100 for all who stayed to the end. A Dell laptop computer was the grand prize won by Tiffany Brown. Second and third place prizes were $500 scholarships won by Peter McKelvy and Amanda Halvorson. Random prizes donated throughtout the year by individuals, busineses and visitors were given away all night long by organizers.
