Summer pool hours announced

After the refurbishing of the Community Park Pool, the City of Port Aransas Parks and Recreation Department has announced its summertime schedule.

The pool has been replastered, the deck has been resurfaced, and it is open for swimming and water exercise.

Water exercise is held Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. and from 6 to 7 p.m. Water exercise costs $1.50 per class.

Lap swimming is available Tuesdays through Fridays from 7 to 8 a.m. Tuesdays through Sundays, lap swimming is open from noon to 1 p.m., and from 1 to 6 p.m. open swimming and lap swimming is allowed. Lap lanes are available except during swimming lessons.

Youth swimming lessons are held from 9:40 to 10:20 a.m. and from 10:30 to 11:10 a.m., Tuesdays through Fridays. Adult swimming lessons are available upon request by calling the pool at 749-2416 or the parks department at 749-4158.

The swim team will practice 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Family swim is held from 7 to 8 p.m. on Fridays. From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, the pool is available for rentals.

The pool is closed on Mondays.

Special events have been scheduled. Saturday, June 16, will be Water Wackiness, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Sunday, June 17, dads may swim for Father's Day at no cost when accompanied by a child.

Saturday, July 7, another day of Water Wackiness will be held, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Dog Days, featuring hot dogs, chips and swimming, will be held Saturday, Aug. 4, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Daily entry fee is free for those under 2; $1 for ages 2-18; $2 for ages 19-59, and $1 for ages 60 and older.

Summer passes cost $45 for one person; $60 for two; $70 for three; $85 for four; $95 for five and $105 for six people for lap and open swim through Sunday, Sept. 30.

Swim passes and water exercise coupons may be purchased at the pool office during operating hours.
