Help sought for work on historic building

STAFF PHOTO BY DAN PARKER 'Claude's Crew' Mayor Claude Brown is seeking volunteers to help screw boards to pilings he will be setting for the Mercer house when it is moved to the property beside the Community Center. Brown is donating his labor to the Port Aransas Preservation and Historical Association in this endeavor that will become Port Aransas' first historical museum. Experienced workers are needed for 'Claude's Crew' to finish the boards after the pilings are set. Anyone able and willing to help may contact Rick Pratt at (361) 749-3193 or by e-mail at camric@the-i.net.
Mayor Claude Brown has offered to set the pilings for the Mercer house to be moved to the property by the Community Center for the Port Aransas Preservation and Historical Association. Brown is not charging the organization for his labor.

Qualified volunteers are needed to help put the screws in the boards on the pilings after they are set.

Contractors and experienced workers are needed to donate a little time and be a part of "Claude's Crew" in this endeavor that will benefit the whole town.

"Retired or still working, we need your expert help," said PAPHA board member Rick Pratt who is spearheading much of the house move.

"If you have any time at all to donate, you can be a part of saving the history of Port Aransas forever. Anyone with experience and able to follow instructions may help. Willing out-of-towners are welcome to help as well," Pratt said.

The pilings will be set sometime between now and the middle of July.

To volunteer, contact Pratt at (361) 749-3193 or by e-mail at camric@the-i.net.
